GAP and vehicle service contracts—built for a member-first program.
The portfolio begins with two core vehicle-lending protections. Additional categories can extend the program selectively—without turning the member conversation into a catalog of add-ons.
Answer first
CU Finance Products is primarily focused on GAP and vehicle service contracts. Additional protection products may be available when they meet a member need and pass the credit union’s product, provider, operational, and compliance review.
01
GAP
Depending on its structure and jurisdiction, GAP may waive or cancel an eligible remaining loan balance after a covered total loss when the primary insurer’s settlement is less than the amount owed.
Primary product focus
Confirm waiver, debt-cancellation, or insurance structure
Review loan-to-value, asset, term, exclusions, cancellation, and refund rules
Explain that optional GAP is not required for loan approval
A vehicle service contract may cover specified repairs or services after eligible mechanical or electrical failures. It is not a manufacturer’s warranty unless the contract expressly establishes that status.
Primary product focus
Review covered components, exclusions, limits, deductibles, cancellation, and claims
Evaluate vehicle age, mileage, term, and use eligibility
Train employees to describe only approved contract terms
A broader portfolio may include tire and wheel, key replacement, appearance protection, theft recovery, prepaid maintenance, or protection for other eligible asset types. These options are secondary and selected according to member need and program fit.
Start with the credit union’s member and loan profile
Confirm provider and administrator capability
Approve each category separately
Add products only when the workflow and training can support them well
Product notice: GAP and vehicle service contracts are the primary focus of CU Finance Products. References to additional products describe potential portfolio categories, not guaranteed availability. Provider, administrator, coverage, terms, exclusions, eligibility, legal structure, asset fit, jurisdiction, and credit union approval must be confirmed.
